Additional Biography details about D. H. Lawrence
Lawrence's idealistic theories about sexual relations, interest in mysticism and primitive religions, resulted in some of the most famous of the 20th Century's censorship cases. The explicit sexual content of Lady Chatterley's Lover became infamous in the late fifties / early sixties and led to this famous book being banned for many years.

When it was later released it became a best selling novel and was subsequently made into a movie and televised version. Sons and Lovers were also immortalised in a movie version of the book which was famous for the nude wrestling scene featuring the English actors Alan Bates and Oliver Reed. D.H. Lawrence had quite a hard life, he suffered for much of his life from Tuberculosis, many of his works were perceived as obscene and were banned by the censors. He was persecuted during WW1 for supposedly having pro-German sympathies and so felt compelled to leave England for good.
